Ship Welder
In modern terms ship’s exploitation at sea depends on knowledge, qualifications of those who executes prophylactic and repair works, requiring with other skills of welding.The basic training course aims to give the bases of welding melting, knowledge about basic (shipbuilding) and welding materials, correct welding technique and cutting of metals, technical requirements, including produced by leading Qualification Societies, and daily technological processes. An accent is done on the study of those processes and expense materials that can be used on ships.
The course includes all aspects of repair and maintenance with the use of welding and oxygen cutting on board a ship.
During theoretical part of the course lecturers pay attention to real situations and works, at marine vessels. During practical training students work out skills and technique of the electronic arc welding of metalconstrction elements and pipelines, gas welding and cutting of metals with the use of equipment of "Kemppi", "Lincoln Electric", "Fronius", "Unitor", "Harris" companies. Also, attention is paid to the correct handling of welding equipment to minimize risks of accidents or origin of fire on board a ship.
At the end of the course students have to pass verification of knowledge and practical skills and candidates, successfully completed the course, are issued the ship’s welder certificate.
Student, successfully finished the course, are able to execute the followings types of works:
1. Electric arc welding, by the covered electrode:
- ship corps constructions
- ship pipelines
- ship mechanisms
- ship caldrons and vessels under pressure
2. To conduct the gas welding and cutting of metal.
