Dynamic positioning systems maintenance

This course is intended for the vessel electrical, electronic personnel and engineers who may be required to maintain, repair or perform troubleshooting on dynamic positioning systems.To provide the participants with a general introduction and training/retraining on dynamic positioning systems with respect to vessel installations and standard safety practices. At the end of the course participants will be able to:

  • understand the dynamic positioning technologies and principles
  • understand the system arrangement, dynamic positioning class requirement
  • understand the principle of position reference systems and sensors
  • understand the procedures and precautions with respect to power distribution systems HV equipment safety features, operation, functions and basic protection systems
  • understand the basic modes and alarms of dynamic positioning systems
  • understand the functions of process station, system interface and network
  • carry out fault finding and troubleshooting procedures to bring the dynamic positioning system back into operation

Each candidate wishing to complete the training on this course must be:

  • not younger than 18 years
  • have maritime education as an engineer officer

Persons successfully completing this course receive the appropriate certificate. Training course “Dynamic positioning systems maintenance” starts every week. Registration on this course is conducted in room 114.
