Proficiency in Survival Craft

This course named: "Proficiency in survival craft" meets the mandatory minimum requirements stated in Section A-VI/2-1 of the STCW Code 1995 regarding training of seafarers for achievement of necessary level of knowledge and skills to enable the candidate to launch and take charge of a survival craft or rescue boat in emergency situation. The course "Proficiency in Survival Craft" created in accordance with the IMO model course 1.23 –Proficiency in survival Craft. Course is intended for persons completed sufficient training on course "Personal survival techniques, basic fire-fighting, elementary first aid, personal safety and social responsibilities", corresponding to STCW Code Section A-VI/1 requirements. A trainee successfully completing this training is able to:

  • take charge of a survival craft or rescue boat during and after launching
  • operate a survival craft engine
  • manage survivors and survival craft after abandoning ship
  • use locating devices
  • apply first aid to survivors


“Proficiency in survival craft” training course starts every week. Registration on this course is conducted in room 104.
