GMDSS Restricted Operator
This certificate (ROC) is required for masters, officers in charge of a navigational watch and for masters of small tonnage ships. The trainees study the procedures of radio communication exchange particularly concerning distress, urgency and safety as well as for the purpose of public correspondence for sea areas A1 (within the range of shore VHF radio station with DSC), A2 (within the range of shore MF radio station with DSC) and also use of INMARSAT-C ship earth station. Also GMDSS operators’ further training (updating of certificates) (in accordance with regulation 1/11 of the STCW 78/95 Convention, section A-1/11 of the STCW Code.The training is carried out on the simulator equipment of type “TGS-2000” and “TGS-3000” provided by the Company TRANSAS MARINE OVERSEAS LTD, UK. This equipment is approved by the Maritime Administrations, IMO members (Appendix 3). The sets of real GMDSS equipment SAILOR H2192 are used for training. The training is conducted by qualified instructors who completed officer-instructor training course approved by the Maritime Administration of Ukraine. During the course each trainee occupies an individual workplace with the pack of standard documentation and guidance manuals.
