Medical Care
The course “Medical Care” meets the mandatory minimum requirements stated in section VI/4-2 STCW Code 1995/ The course "Medical Care" created in accordance with the IMO model course 1.15 – Medical Care. In accordance with Model course 1.15 of the IMO Guidance, the advanced level of medical training, based on the use of International Medical Guide for Ships (IMGS), enables specified crew members to participate effectively in coordinated schemes for medical assistance on ships at sea and to provide the sick or injured with a satisfactory standard of medical care on board. A trainee successfully completing this training will be able to:- participate actively in coordinated schemes for medical assistance on ships at sea
- provide the sick or injured with a satisfactory standard of medical care while they remain on board
The course is open to seafarers to be designated to be in charge of medical care on board ships. Those entering the course should have successfully completed training in medical first aid on board ship. On successful completion of the course and demonstration of competence, a document may be issued certifying that the holder has met the standard of competence specified in Table A-VI/4-2 of STCW 1995.
Training course “Medical Care” starts every week. Registration on this course is conducted in room 202.
