GMDSS General Operator

This certificate (GOC) is required for all masters and officers in charge of a navigational watch of ships operating in sea areas A3 and A4, also it may be used by the masters of ships operating in sea areas A1 and A2. The trainees of the courses study the procedures of radiocommunication exchange particularly concerning distress, urgency and safety as well as for the purpose of public correspondence with the use of equipment being a part of GMDSS radio equipment for ships of all sea areas (A1, A2, A3 and A4). This course conducted in accordance with the Convention SOLAS-74 and covers the training recommendation in annex 3 to IMO Assembly resolution A. 703 (17) -Recommendation on Training of Radio Operators related to the General Operator's Certificate (GOC).

The course GMDSS meets the requirements of section A-1/11 of the STCW Code. The training is carried out on the simulator equipment of type “TGS-2000” and “TGS-3000” provided by the Company TRANSAS MARINE OVERSEAS LTD, UK. This equipment is approved by the Maritime Administrations, IMO members (Appendix 3). The sets of real GMDSS equipment SAILOR H2192 are used for training. The training is conducted by qualified instructors who completed officer-instructor training course approved by the Maritime Administration of Ukraine. During the course each trainee occupies an individual workplace with the pack of standard documentation and guidance manuals.

“GMDSS General Operator” training course starts every week. Registration on this course is conducted in room 114.
